There are many Web 2 Applications that I am now familiar with, I have only been familiarised with them for around 18 months, The most popular and useful, in my opinion is “Facebook.”
I have come to realize that for me the most useful aspect of Facebook is Facebook groups. Basically if you are part of a particular group of individuals and information needs to be distributed quickly to those people, and only those people,This is just an example, as for me, I am in the UWTSD Swansea Football group, where information about training and match times are posted weekly. Whats interesting about aspect of Facebook is that you can see who in the group has read the post. Facebook Groups can be private or they can also be made public, this is useful for when creating and advertising an event. The administrator of the group can send invitations to friends and even friends of friends to their event, people can respond to the invite and other people who have received invited can see who will be attending the event or not, I have witnessed first-hand how useful this is.
Another Interesting Webb application is "Spotify" at first I thought that it was simply for playing music, but it can be linked to your facebook page and will update what songs you have been listening to recently so your facebook friends can see. It also gives you the option to "follow" facebook friends on spotify so you can see what music they are listening to without logging into faceboook. This is useful because you can share playlists and recommend artists to friends.
